About this Trip
Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel.
Explore Sofia, visiting Alexander Nevski Cathedral, the churches of St. George and St. Nikolas, the Banya Bashi Mosque, the Synagogue, the ruins of ancient Serdica and the Boyana Church*. Drive to Rila Monastery*, to visit the monastery and return to Sofia.
Travel to Plovdiv to visit the Roman ruins, the old town, St. Konstantine and Elena Church & Hindliyan's House. Continue to Kazanlak to visit a replica of the Thracian Tomb of Kazanlak*, the History Museum and a rose distillery in the Valley of Roses.
Drive to the ancient city of Nessebar* to explore the acropolis, remains of Thracian fortifications, Stara Mitropolio Basilica, the medieval fortress and 19th century wooden houses. Continue to Varna on the Black Sea, for an evening walking tour.
Travel to Madara to see the Madara River*, Sveshtari to visit the Thracian Tomb of Sveshtari* and Veliko Tarnovo for an evening walking tour.
Travel to Tsarevets Hill; Arbanassi, to visit the Nativity Church; Ivanovo, to explore the Rock-Hewn Churches of Ivanovo* and Pitesti, Romania.
Visit the Monastery of Horezu*, a masterpiece of Brancovan style and continue through Jiu Valley to explore Sarmisegetuza and Ulpia Traiana, Dacian Fortresses of the Orastie Mountains*, before arriving in Hunedoara.
Visit Hunyad Castle and travel to Alba Iulia to visit the historical buildings of the town before your drive to Sibiu.
Take a walking tour of Sibiu, explore the Villages with Fortified Churches in Transylvania*, visiting Axente Sever, Biertan and the Historic Centre of Sighisoara*, where you visit the Clock Tower and the birthplace of Vlad the Impaler.
Explore the Wooden Churches of Maramures*, visiting the Church of Surdesti, the Church of Saint Nicholas in Budesti, before arriving in the village of Hoteni, where you will spend the night in a traditional Maramures style house.
Travel to Sapanta to visit the Merry Cemetery, Barsana to visit the Church of the Presentation of the Virgin at the Temple and Moldovita Monastery* before your arrival in Sucevita.
Visit Sucevita Monastery, the Church of the Assumption of the Holy Virgin in Humor and Voronet Monastery*. Continue to the Red Lake driving through Bicaz Canyon. Free time.
Drive to Brasov to visit the Black Church and continue to Bran, a castle made famous by Bram Stoker's novel as the residence of Count Dracula. Evening free.
Travel to Sinaia to visit Peles Palace and Sinaia Monastery and continue to Bucharest to visit the Parliament Palace, the open-air Village Museum, and other important sites.
You will be transferred to the airport for your flight back home.
